The Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (MCBS) is a religious community conceived in the heart of Fr. Mathew Alakalam and nurtured with the support of his companion, Fr. Joseph Paredom. With the blessing and permission of Mar James Kalachery, the late Bishop of Changanacherry, the congregation was founded on May 7, 1933, in Mallappally. Shortly thereafter, its residence was relocated to Kaduvakulam, where the Little Flower Ashram was established as the Mother House of the congregation.
The founding Fathers entrusted the congregation to its members as a spiritual heritage, embodying a life of love and unwavering devotion to the Eucharistic Lord, combined with missionary zeal. The congregation’s charism is to live and proclaim the Eucharistic Mystery—to celebrate it, gather the children of God around the altar, and uphold the Lord’s real presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
