Fundamental techniques and concepts necessary for the successful study and performance on the Piano & keyboard in all styles and settings. This includes:

• An overview of periods and styles
• Right and left hand technical exercises
• Proper hand, arm and body positioning
• Proper posture at the keyboard including position of the bench.

There is emphasis on proper breathing, the basics of Western music theory and its application to the keyboard along with a study of concepts for comping, arpeggio study, soloing and tools to develop dynamics, awareness, and foundational ensemble and solo styles.
